About ‘Write Your Self’
Write Your Self was developed in Sweden and is about developing a rich, conscious creative writing practice. Using a trauma-sensitive method, you’ll explore a process that is simultaneously about writing and about being human.
· Perhaps you’ve been through a specific trauma or upheaval and feel writing could help. Perhaps it is hard to speak - or even think - about it fully, and you’re looking for a safe space to explore and make sense of things.
· Perhaps you want to develop and deepen a creative writing practice, and drawing on yourself and your life feels necessary.
· Perhaps you already use writing reflectively and expressively, as a way to look at and understand yourself and your life, and would like to explore this more and with others. Perhaps you’d like to expand your writing into creative genres.
No obligation to share your work. No need to be “good” at writing, spelling, punctuation, etc. No need to write about anything you don’t want to. You always choose.
The programme helps you establish practical and flexible routines and, through playing with different exercises and genres, expand your repertoire of creative options from which to draw. While this approach is essentially about writing as a process, by writing deeply and honestly, you may also find you also end up writing with more beauty and power than you thought possible.
It is important to note that, while this is a sensitive, therapeutic writing method, it is not therapy and should not be used in place of counselling or psychotherapy where that is appropriate.
